About the course
What this course covers
Web analytics turns raw visit data into answers: which channels bring valuable customers, which pages lose people, and whether a campaign is paying back. Since Universal Analytics was retired, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) has become the standard, with an event-based data model that is very different from what many marketers learned earlier.
This course teaches measurement from planning to reporting. You begin with a measurement plan that starts from business questions and defines the events, parameters and conversions needed. You then implement it with Google Tag Manager and GA4, learning how to test with debug tools, set up key events, audiences and custom definitions, and configure cross-domain and e-commerce tracking. Analysis modules cover the standard reports, explorations, funnels and path analysis, attribution models and campaign tracking with UTM parameters. Reporting sessions build dashboards in Looker Studio, and an introduction to the BigQuery export shows what is possible with raw data.
Privacy is treated as a core topic, including consent banners, Consent Mode and data retention. The course prepares you for Google's free Analytics certification assessment on Skillshop, which is optional and taken directly with Google.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Is Google Analytics certification free?
Yes, the assessment on Skillshop is free. It is optional and taken directly with Google, and we cannot guarantee a pass.
Q.Is Universal Analytics still available?
No. Google retired it, so this course teaches GA4 and explains the differences for people who used the old version.
Q.Do I need coding skills?
Not for most work. Tag Manager is visual, but understanding basic HTML, JavaScript variables and the data layer helps. We explain what you need.
Q.Can I practise without a website?
Yes. We provide a demo property and a sample site to tag. You can also use your own site.
Q.Is there an alternative to GA4?
Yes, there are privacy-focused and product analytics tools. GA4 remains the most common in marketing roles, and the measurement concepts apply to all of them.
Q.Do you cover BigQuery?
At an overview level, including what the export contains and a few starter queries.
Q.How does consent affect my data?
