About the course

Why take Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) Certification Training?

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is the Scrum Alliance's entry-level credential for people who guide a Scrum team. It does not teach you to run meetings as a referee; it teaches you to serve the team, protect its focus, coach the Product Owner and developers, and help the organisation remove the blockers that slow delivery.

The workshop is built around the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. You learn why empirical process control works, how the Scrum Team's accountabilities fit together, how every Scrum event is meant to be run, and how the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and Increment create transparency. Most of the time is spent doing: forming a team, refining a backlog, planning a sprint and holding a retrospective.

After the course you take an online CSM test from Scrum Alliance. Pass it, accept the licence agreement, complete your profile, and the credential is issued and stays active for two years.

Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) test

Awarded by	Scrum Alliance
Format	Multiple-choice questions based on the CSM Learning Objectives and the Scrum Guide
Questions	50
Duration	60 minutes
Passing score	74% (at least 37 of 50 correct)
Exam fee	No separate test fee for the first two attempts: they are free if taken within 90 days of your Scrum Alliance welcome email. Further attempts, or attempts after 90 days, cost US$25 each.
Where	Online and unproctored; you can bookmark questions but cannot pause the test.
Validity	2 years. Renew with 20 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and a US$100 renewal fee (as published by Scrum Alliance).

Receive the welcome email from Scrum Alliance and activate your account.

Take the online CSM test within 90 days (50 questions, 60 minutes, 74% to pass).

Accept the CSM licence agreement and complete your Scrum Alliance profile.
