About the course
What this course covers
The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is the Scrum Alliance's entry-level credential for people who guide a Scrum team. It does not teach you to run meetings as a referee; it teaches you to serve the team, protect its focus, coach the Product Owner and developers, and help the organisation remove the blockers that slow delivery.
The workshop is built around the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. You learn why empirical process control works, how the Scrum Team's accountabilities fit together, how every Scrum event is meant to be run, and how the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and Increment create transparency. Most of the time is spent doing: forming a team, refining a backlog, planning a sprint and holding a retrospective.
After the course you take an online CSM test from Scrum Alliance. Pass it, accept the licence agreement, complete your profile, and the credential is issued and stays active for two years.

Q.Do I need any Scrum experience to take the CSM?
No. Scrum Alliance has no experience requirement for the CSM. The course starts from basics, though people who already work in a team find it easier to relate examples.
Q.How hard is the CSM test?
It has 50 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes and needs 74%. Participants who attend the full course and understand the Scrum Guide generally find it manageable, and two attempts are free within 90 days.
Q.Is the test fee included in the course fee?
Yes in effect - Scrum Alliance gives two free attempts within 90 days of your welcome email. A US$25 fee applies only to later attempts.
Q.How long is the CSM valid and what does renewal cost?
Two years. Renewal needs 20 SEUs and a US$100 fee as published by Scrum Alliance. SEUs come from learning, volunteering and community activity.
Q.CSM or PSM - which should I choose?
Both are respected. CSM is workshop-led with a shorter test; PSM I is a tougher self-study style exam from Scrum.org. CSM also feeds the Scrum Alliance advanced path (A-CSM, CSP-SM).
Q.Will CSM get me a Scrum Master job in India?
It improves your shortlisting chances but does not guarantee a job. Employers also look at practical experience, so be ready to talk about teams you have worked in.
