What this course covers
TestComplete is a commercial GUI test automation tool from SmartBear that supports Windows desktop, web and mobile applications. It is used in organisations that need to automate thick-client and legacy desktop software alongside web applications, which many open-source tools handle less comfortably.
This course starts with the project structure and the way TestComplete identifies objects, since stable object recognition is the main reason automation succeeds or fails. You then create tests three ways: by recording, with the keyword-test editor, and by writing scripts in a supported language. The course adds checkpoints, data-driven testing, error handling, reusable functions and test organisation, and ends with test execution from the command line and CI.
There is no external exam taken as part of this course. You work with a licence-trial copy of the tool in class; check SmartBear's current trial terms, as licences and versions are controlled by the vendor.
