About the course
What this course covers
Swift is the language behind iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS apps, and it also runs on Linux for server and tooling work. This short course concentrates on the language itself rather than app building, so you get a strong base before moving on to SwiftUI or UIKit.
You will learn the type system, optionals, value types versus reference types, protocol-oriented design, closures, generics and error handling, then get a first look at Swift's concurrency model. All sessions are practical and use Xcode playgrounds or simple command-line projects.
There is no external exam. If you want to build full apps afterwards, our iOS Development Training builds on this course.

Q.Do I need a Mac?
A Mac with Xcode is the easiest way. Swift also runs on Windows and Linux with the open-source toolchain, so you can learn the language without a Mac, but you cannot build iOS apps there.
Q.Will we build an app?
No. This course covers the language; app building with SwiftUI is in the iOS Development Training.
Q.Is Swift hard for beginners?
It is considered friendly, but optionals and protocols take practice. We go step by step with many small examples.
Q.Is there a certification exam?
No external exam. You receive an Assure Success course completion certificate.
Q.Which Swift version do you teach?
The current Swift release, including Swift 6 features such as strict concurrency checking introduced at a beginner level.
