About the course
What this course covers
SQL for Data Analytics is a practical course that teaches the SQL an analyst uses every day. You do not need any prior database knowledge. The course starts with how relational databases store data and how to retrieve it with SELECT, and quickly builds up to the skills that are asked about in analyst interviews: joins across multiple tables, grouping and aggregation, subqueries, common table expressions, window functions, date handling and CASE logic.
Every module is driven by business questions. You write queries to find top customers, monthly revenue growth, repeat purchase rates, user retention by cohort, funnel drop-off and the latest record per customer. We also look at how queries are executed so you can write efficient ones, how to spot duplicate-row and NULL traps that give wrong totals, and how to use AI assistants to draft queries while checking the logic yourself.
Exercises use a standard open-source database (PostgreSQL or MySQL; the coordinator confirms the dialect for your batch), and differences from SQL Server and other dialects are pointed out. There is no external exam; you receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Which database is used: MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQL Server?
An open-source database is used for the labs and the coordinator confirms the dialect for your batch. The core of SQL is the same across them, and we point out differences.
Q.Is SQL enough to become a data analyst?
SQL is a core skill, but most analyst roles also expect Excel and a BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau, plus the ability to explain results. Python helps too.
Q.I am not from a programming background. Will I cope?
Yes. SQL reads close to English, and the course starts from zero.
Q.Is there a certification exam?
No external exam. You receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate.
Q.Will I get interview practice?
Yes. The final module includes timed interview-style problems such as second-highest salary, retention and top-N per group.
Q.Can I use AI tools to write my SQL?
Yes, and we show how, but you must understand the logic to check it. Wrong joins and double counting are common in AI-generated queries.
