About the course
What this course covers
Spring is the most widely used framework in enterprise Java, and Spring Boot sits on top of it. This course teaches the Spring Framework itself, so that you understand what Boot configures for you. You study the IoC container, bean scopes and lifecycle, configuration with Java classes and annotations, and the AOP engine behind transactions and security.
The course targets Spring Framework 7 (released with Spring Boot 4 in late 2025), which needs Java 17 or later and uses Jakarta EE 11. You learn Spring MVC for web applications and REST APIs, data access with JdbcClient, Spring Data JPA and declarative transactions, and method-level security. Testing with Spring's test support and Mockito is built into the exercises. Throughout, the course points out where Spring Boot auto-configuration replaces manual setup.
Spring has no mandatory exam you must pass to work in the field. You build a layered application as your project, and you receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate on completion.

Q.Should I learn Spring Framework or Spring Boot?
Spring Boot is what most projects use, but it is built on Spring Framework. This course gives you the fundamentals; the Spring Boot course speeds up building. Many learners take both.
Q.Which Spring version is taught?
Spring Framework 7, which pairs with Spring Boot 4. Differences from Spring 5 and 6 are noted so you can work on older codebases.
Q.Is XML configuration covered?
Briefly, so you can read legacy projects. New code uses Java configuration and annotations.
Q.Is there a Spring certification exam?
Broadcom has offered Spring certifications in the past. Check the current status on the official Spring or Broadcom site. This course does not require an exam.
Q.What level of Java do I need?
Good core Java: OOP, collections, generics, annotations and lambdas. Take the Java full-stack or a core Java course first if you are unsure.
Q.Does it include microservices?
No. Microservices with Spring Cloud are covered in a separate course.
