About the course
What this course covers
Spring Boot is how most Java back-end services are built today. It removes boilerplate through auto-configuration and starters, so you can go from an idea to a running, production-ready API quickly. This course teaches Spring Boot 4, built on Spring Framework 7, and shows how to design, secure, test and ship REST services.
You start by creating a project and understanding auto-configuration, properties and profiles, then build layered REST APIs with validation and consistent error responses. Persistence is covered with Spring Data JPA, PostgreSQL or MySQL, and Flyway migrations. You secure the service with Spring Security and JWT, add observability with Actuator and Micrometer, write unit and integration tests, and package the application as a container image.
There is no mandatory vendor exam. You complete a project service and receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate. If you wish to validate Java knowledge externally, Oracle's Java SE certification is separate; see the official Oracle site.

Q.Which Spring Boot version do you teach?
Spring Boot 4 (Spring Framework 7), with Java 21 or Java 25. Notes on Spring Boot 3 differences are included because many companies still run it.
Q.Do I need to know Spring Framework first?
No. Core concepts such as dependency injection are explained as needed. The Spring Framework course goes deeper if you want it.
Q.Is Spring Boot the same as Spring?
Spring Boot is built on top of the Spring Framework. Boot configures and packages Spring so you can start quickly.
Q.Is there an exam?
No mandatory exam. You get a course-completion certificate and a project to show. Oracle's Java certifications and any Spring certification offered by Broadcom are separate; check their official sites.
Q.Will I learn microservices?
You build a service that is ready for microservice use. Spring Cloud, service discovery and gateways are in the separate microservices course.
Q.Which database is used?
PostgreSQL or MySQL, running in Docker, with Spring Data JPA and Flyway.
