About the course
What this course covers
R for Data Science is a compact, practical introduction to R for people who need to analyse data, test ideas and produce clear charts and reports. It is the shorter sibling of Data Science with R: instead of a full machine learning track, it concentrates on getting you fluent in the tidyverse and the core statistical tools.
You learn to import data from spreadsheets and databases, clean and reshape it with dplyr and tidyr, explore it with ggplot2, and answer questions with descriptive statistics, t-tests, chi-square tests and a first regression model. Every concept is practised on a dataset, and the course closes with a short reproducible report written in Quarto or R Markdown.
There is no external exam; successful participants receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate.
Who should attend
- ● Students and researchers in statistics, economics, biology and social sciences
- ● Analysts who currently use Excel or SPSS and want a scriptable tool
- ● Professionals in healthcare, pharma and market research who handle survey data
- ● Beginners who want a statistics-friendly first programming language
- ● Learners planning to continue to Data Science with R or Machine Learning with R
Prerequisites
- ● No prior programming experience required
Key skills
Skills you will walk away with
R basics
Work with vectors, data frames, functions and packages in RStudio.
Importing data
Read CSV, Excel and database tables into R with readr, readxl and DBI.
Tidying and transforming
Use dplyr and tidyr pipelines to filter, summarise, join and reshape data.
Charts with ggplot2
Build clear scatter, bar, line, box and histogram charts with themes and labels.
Descriptive statistics
Summarise and compare groups, and read correlations sensibly.
Hypothesis testing
Run t-tests and chi-square tests and interpret p-values with care.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Is R harder than Python for a beginner?
Many beginners find R easy to start with for analysis because the tidyverse reads like a sequence of steps. It is less suited to general software development, which is Python's strength.
Q.What is the difference between this and Data Science with R?
This 22-hour course covers R, tidyverse, basic statistics and reporting. Data Science with R (40 hours) adds a full modelling and machine learning track, Shiny apps and a larger capstone.
Q.Do I need a maths or statistics degree?
No. Concepts are explained from first principles using examples, and school-level maths is enough to start.
Q.Is there an exam?
No external exam. You receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate after completing the course and mini-project.
Q.Which operating system do I need?
Windows, macOS or Linux all work. R and RStudio are free.
Q.Will R help me get a job in India?
R is valued in pharma, clinical research, BFSI risk and research roles. For general analyst jobs, SQL and a BI tool are also commonly requested, so consider combining skills.
