About the course
What this course covers
Many people can write Python scripts but struggle when code gets larger, slower or harder to maintain. This course is for people who already know the basics and want to understand what Python is actually doing: how objects are stored and passed, how the import system, descriptors and the data model work, and why some code is ten times faster than other code.
You will practise advanced features such as generators, context managers, decorators, metaclasses, and learn the concurrency options: threading, multiprocessing and asyncio, including how the GIL affects them and what recent Python releases changed. We also cover type hints, testing, packaging and profiling so you can bring habits used in professional teams.
There is no vendor exam attached to this course. The outcome is practical: you will be able to read library source code, review other people's Python and fix performance and design problems with evidence.

Complete beginners. If you cannot yet write functions and classes comfortably, take the Python Programming course first.
Q.Will we use Django or Flask?
No. This is about the language itself, so what you learn applies to every framework. We reference web examples where they help.
Q.Does it cover data science libraries?
Only where they help illustrate performance and memory topics. It is not a pandas or machine-learning course.
Q.What about the GIL and free-threaded Python?
We explain how the GIL works, why it matters, and what recent Python releases have changed with free-threaded builds, so you can judge what applies to your Python version.
Q.Is there an exam?
