About the course
What this course covers
A programme is a group of related projects and activities managed together because the combined result is worth more than the projects delivered separately. Programme management is therefore about benefits, coordination and governance, not only about delivering outputs.
This fundamentals course introduces the programme life cycle: defining the programme and its business case, planning the components and their dependencies, delivering in tranches or phases, realising benefits and closing. You study the role of the programme manager, sponsor and benefit owner, how a programme differs from a large project, and how to set governance that keeps components aligned.
The course is not tied to one framework. It draws on ideas common to PMI's programme standard, MSP and other practice. There is no external exam; learners receive an Assure Success completion certificate. It is a good stepping stone before PgMP or MSP training.
