About the course
What this course covers
This course prepares you to work as a Power BI data analyst and to attempt Exam PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst, which leads to the Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate credential. You learn to prepare data with Power Query, build a clean star-schema model, write DAX measures, design clear and interactive reports, and publish and secure them in the Power BI Service.
The syllabus follows Microsoft's four skill areas: Prepare the data, Model the data, Visualize and analyze the data, and Manage and secure Power BI. Each is practised on realistic datasets with an emphasis on the things the exam and real jobs both test: choosing between Import, DirectQuery and Direct Lake, creating a date table, using CALCULATE and time intelligence, tuning performance with Performance Analyzer, configuring row-level security and choosing a distribution method. The current objectives also mention Copilot-assisted report building and visual calculations, which are covered at a practical level.
Twenty-four hours cannot replace hands-on practice, so you receive structured lab tasks and a study plan for the weeks before your exam. The Assure Success certificate marks course completion; the Microsoft certification is earned only by passing the exam with Microsoft's testing provider.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Is the PL-300 exam included in the course fee?
No. The exam is booked and paid separately with Microsoft. The course prepares you for it. Check the current exam price on Microsoft's site.
Q.Is 24 hours enough to pass PL-300?
It gives you the structure and guided practice. Most learners also need several weeks of their own lab work. If you are new to data modelling and DAX, plan extra practice time.
Q.Do I need to know DAX or Power Query beforehand?
No. Both are taught from the basics. Excel experience helps.
Q.Can I use a Mac?
Power BI Desktop is a Windows application. Mac users can run Windows through a virtual machine or cloud PC; talk to the coordinator before enrolling.
Q.Do I need a paid Power BI licence?
Power BI Desktop is free. Some Service features such as sharing need a Pro or equivalent licence, and Copilot features need eligible paid capacity. The instructor can demonstrate features you cannot access.
Q.Does the exam still cover Copilot and AI?
Microsoft's skills-measured list as of 20 April 2026 includes using Copilot to create report pages and narratives, and AI visuals. The course covers these.
