About the course
What this course covers
Once a MongoDB application is live, someone has to keep the database available, fast and secure. MongoDB administrators plan topology, configure replica sets for high availability, shard collections for scale, manage users and roles, back up and restore data, watch performance and plan upgrades.
This course covers those duties with labs. You will deploy a replica set, force a failover and watch elections, understand oplog sizing, and set up a sharded cluster with a sensible shard key. Security modules cover authentication mechanisms, roles, TLS and encryption options. Monitoring and performance sessions use the database profiler, explain, server metrics and common tools to find slow queries and capacity problems. Backup and recovery modules compare logical dumps, file-system snapshots and Atlas managed backups, including point-in-time recovery concepts.
The MongoDB Associate Database Administrator exam is an optional external credential; its official page lists 75 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, delivered online with a proctor. This course covers its topics, but you must register and pay MongoDB directly.
