About the course
What this course covers
MATLAB is a widely used environment for numerical computing in engineering, science and research. This short course teaches you to work with matrices, import and clean data, create plots, write scripts and functions and automate calculations that would be slow in a spreadsheet.
Sessions are hands-on, with examples from signals, control, mechanics and data analysis so that engineering students and professionals see how MATLAB applies to their domain. We use Live Scripts to combine code, results and explanation, and introduce the toolboxes you may meet later.
There is no external exam attached to this course. MathWorks runs its own certification and self-paced training; see their official site if you want those.

No. You need MATLAB access through your college, employer, a trial or MATLAB Online. Ask us before enrolling if unsure.
Q.Can I use free alternatives like Octave?
Core concepts transfer, and Octave can run many basic scripts, but some functions and Live Scripts differ. The course is taught in MATLAB.
Q.Do I need programming experience?
No. The course introduces programming constructs from scratch.
Q.Does this cover Simulink or toolboxes?
No, this is a core MATLAB course. We outline which toolboxes exist and where to learn them.
