About the course
What this course covers
The Kanban Maturity Model (KMM) was created by David J. Anderson and Teodora Bozheva as a guide to how organisations mature in their ability to deliver value. It describes a series of maturity levels, from organisations with little awareness of the customer to those that are fully adaptive, and lists the Kanban-based practices that fit each level.
The class teaches how to use the model as a roadmap. You study the maturity levels, the practices associated with them, the link between maturity and business results such as predictability and fitness for purpose, and how to assess where a team or organisation currently stands. You then practise planning improvement, one level at a time, and engaging managers and leaders in a conversation about the change.
Kanban University's listings for the KMM class show formats of varying length and note that attendees are expected to hold the Kanban Management Professional (KMP) designation, though one listing says all experience levels are welcome. Participants receive a certificate of attendance. Confirm the current prerequisites and credential with the trainer before you enrol. KMM is also part of the route to the Kanban Coaching Professional credential.
