About the course
What this course covers
Lean Portfolio Management (ICP-LPM) is part of ICAgile's Business Agility track. It addresses a common blocker for agile organisations: annual project budgets, heavy stage gates and portfolio reports that cannot keep up with fast-moving teams.
The course explains how to turn strategy into a prioritised set of initiatives, fund long-lived teams or value streams instead of individual projects, and use lightweight governance and measures to steer the portfolio. You work through portfolio backlogs, lean business cases, work-in-progress limits, participatory budgeting and metrics that show progress toward outcomes.
ICAgile certifications are awarded for completing an accredited class and meeting the instructor's acceptance criteria; there is no separate exam. This is not a SAFe credential, although the ideas overlap with the portfolio guidance in many scaled frameworks.

Q.Is ICP-LPM the same as the SAFe Lean Portfolio Management course?
No. They overlap in ideas, but this is an ICAgile credential and it is framework-neutral. It does not certify you in SAFe.
Q.Is there an exam?
No separate exam is required. The instructor assesses you during the live class and you must attend all learning outcomes.
Q.I work in PMO. Is my role disappearing?
The course covers how the PMO role changes toward enabling portfolio flow, governance and learning rather than status reporting.
Q.Do I need finance knowledge?
No, but familiarity with budgeting cycles helps. The course explains lean budgeting from the basics.
Q.Does the certificate expire?
No. ICAgile states certifications do not expire and carry no renewal fee.
Q.Can small companies use these ideas?
Yes. The principles scale down, such as limiting initiatives in progress and funding teams rather than projects.
