About the course
What this course covers
A financial model turns assumptions into forecasts that support decisions on investment, budgeting, fundraising and valuation. Finance teams, investment analysts, consultants and startup founders all rely on models, yet many in practice are hard to audit or break when assumptions change.
This hands-on course teaches you to build clean, flexible models in Excel. Starting from historical financials, you will structure assumptions, forecast revenue and costs, build the supporting schedules for working capital, fixed assets, debt and equity, and link everything into an integrated three-statement model that balances. You will then value the business using discounted cash flow, calculate the weighted average cost of capital, cross-check with market multiples, and explore uncertainty with scenarios, sensitivity tables and basic Monte Carlo ideas.
Throughout, the course stresses modelling discipline: consistent layouts, separate inputs and calculations, error checks, named ranges, and Excel functions such as INDEX-MATCH or XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IRR/XIRR, NPV and data tables. There is no external exam; you finish with a complete model and a repeatable approach.
