About the course
What this course covers
In a DevOps pipeline, testing cannot be a phase at the end. DevOps Test Engineering shows how to make testing continuous: planned from the start, automated at the right levels, and fast enough to run on every change. It is aimed at testers, QA leads and developers who want to build quality into delivery rather than inspect it afterward.
The course covers how to design a test strategy for continuous delivery using the test pyramid, risk-based thinking and exploratory testing alongside automation. You work through unit testing and test-driven development, API and contract testing, behaviour-driven development, UI automation and its trade-offs, and then non-functional testing such as performance, security and accessibility in the pipeline. You also learn how to manage test data and environments, deal with flaky tests, and use production monitoring and experimentation (shift-right) as part of quality.
The course is an Assure Success skills program. DevOps Institute (part of PeopleCert) offers a related DevOps Test Engineering certification; we mention it as an optional next step and recommend confirming the current exam details with the examination body. Q.I do only manual testing. Can I join?
Yes. Basic scripting exposure helps, and we introduce automation step by step.
Q.Which tools are used?
Open-source tools such as a unit test framework, an API test tool, Selenium or Playwright and a load testing tool. The concepts apply to commercial tools too.
Q.Is there an exam?
The course ends with an Assure Success certificate. A related external exam exists in the DevOps Institute / PeopleCert programme; confirm its details with the examination body.
Q.Is it only about automation?
No. Test strategy, exploratory testing and risk thinking are included, because automation alone does not give quality.
Q.Will I need to code?
Some. Test automation involves code, and exercises are designed for people with basic programming skills.
Q.How is it different from a Selenium course?
Selenium courses teach one tool. This course teaches test strategy across the whole delivery pipeline.
