About the course
What this course covers
Most Indian software teams now work in agile or hybrid ways, yet many testers were trained in sequential projects where testing was a phase at the end. The ISTQB Foundation Level Agile Tester extension helps testers adapt: it covers the agile values and principles, the whole-team approach, and how the tester contributes in every iteration.
The course explains agile software development and the tester's role in Scrum, Kanban and XP teams. You will practise refining user stories with acceptance criteria, applying the agile testing quadrants and the test pyramid, using exploratory testing in short iterations, estimating testing effort, managing risk and defects, and supporting continuous integration and delivery with appropriate automation. Retrospectives and metrics for continuous improvement are also covered.
The credential is awarded through ISTQB national boards. This course prepares you for the CTFL-AT exam; it does not replace sitting it. You need the ISTQB Foundation certificate first.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Do I need ISTQB Foundation first?
Yes. ISTQB requires a valid Foundation Level certificate before the Agile Tester exam.
Q.Is this the same as the Scrum Master certification?
No. Scrum Master credentials focus on facilitating a Scrum team. This one covers how testers contribute in agile teams, including test design, automation and quality practices.
Q.Is the course useful if my company is not fully agile?
Yes. Many organisations run hybrid models, and the techniques such as exploratory testing, example-based requirements and pyramid thinking apply there as well.
Q.How long is the exam?
It has 40 questions and runs 90 minutes, with 26 correct needed. That is longer than the Foundation exam because the questions are scenario-heavy.
Q.Will this teach me automation tools?
No. It covers where automation fits in agile delivery. For tools, see our Selenium and automation testing courses.
Q.Is there also an Advanced Level Agile Tester?
ISTQB has an Advanced Level Agile Tester module that is a separate, higher-level qualification. This course prepares you for the Foundation Level Agile Tester exam.
