About the course
What this course covers
Business Analytics with Excel focuses on using Excel as an analysis tool rather than a data-entry grid. You learn to bring in data from several sources, clean it with Power Query, model it, summarise it with pivot tables and answer business questions such as which products drive margin, which customers are likely to leave, what next quarter's sales may look like and how a price change would affect profit.
The course covers modern formulas such as XLOOKUP, FILTER, SORT, UNIQUE and LET, descriptive statistics, regression and the Analysis ToolPak, forecasting functions, scenario and goal-seek analysis, Solver for optimisation, and interactive dashboards. A final session introduces Excel's newer assistive features, including Copilot where your licence includes it, and Python in Excel at an overview level, with guidance on when to trust and check their output.
There is no external exam. You complete a business case analysis and receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate. Feature availability can depend on your Microsoft 365 plan; the instructor flags any features that need a particular licence.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Which Excel version do I need?
Microsoft 365 is best because it has the newer functions such as XLOOKUP and dynamic arrays. Older versions will work for much of the course, but some functions will be missing.
Q.How is this different from the Advanced Excel course?
This course is about analysis: statistics, forecasting, scenarios and dashboards. The Microsoft Excel & Advanced Excel course focuses on tool mastery, including functions, macros and VBA.
Q.Is there a Microsoft Excel certification exam?
This course does not include or list one. You receive an Assure Success course-completion certificate. Check Microsoft's current certification pages if you want a vendor credential.
Q.Does Excel replace SQL or Power BI?
Excel handles moderate data volumes well, but large datasets and shared dashboards are better in SQL databases and BI tools. Many analysts use all three.
Q.Will we use Copilot or Python in Excel?
They are shown in the final session. Availability depends on your licence and region, so the instructor will demonstrate if you cannot use them.
Q.Can I use Excel for Mac?
Most of the course works on Mac, but Power Query and some features differ. Windows is recommended.
