About the course
What this course covers
Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) grew out of test-driven development and is associated with Dan North. Its aim is to get business people, developers and testers to share a clear understanding of what a feature should do, using concrete examples, before the code is written.
The course teaches BDD as three activities: discovery, formulation and automation. In discovery you hold Three Amigos conversations and example mapping sessions to explore rules and examples. In formulation you turn examples into readable Gherkin scenarios with the Given-When-Then structure, avoiding common mistakes such as scenarios that describe UI clicks instead of behaviour. In automation you learn how the scenarios connect to code through step definitions, and how they act as living documentation and regression tests. You also learn how BDD fits with user stories, acceptance criteria and TDD.
There is no external exam. You complete exercises and receive a course completion certificate from the training provider. Automation sessions use a Cucumber-style approach; the language and tool depend on the batch.

Q.Is there an exam?
No. It is a skills course with a completion certificate from the training provider.
Q.Is BDD just Cucumber?
No. Cucumber is a tool. BDD is about conversations and examples, and the course emphasises that first.
Q.Do I need to know programming?
Not for the discovery and Gherkin parts. Basic programming exposure helps in the automation session.
Q.Which programming language is used?
This depends on the batch. Confirm the language with the counsellor before enrolling.
Q.How is BDD different from TDD?
TDD is a developer-level practice of writing unit tests first. BDD focuses on shared understanding of behaviour at the feature level, though the two work well together.
Q.Is it only for testers?
No. BAs, Product Owners and developers all take part, since BDD is a team activity.
