About the course
What this course covers
Microsoft Azure Security Technologies (AZ-500) certified that you could implement, manage and monitor security for Azure, multi-cloud and hybrid resources. Microsoft's own certification page states that the Azure Security Engineer Associate certification, its exam and its renewal assessments retired on 31 August 2026, and that it can no longer be earned or renewed. Microsoft sources name SC-500, Cloud and AI Security Engineer Associate, as the replacement; it is not a like-for-like swap, so confirm its current outline on Microsoft Learn.
The skills remain highly relevant. This course follows the AZ-500 skill areas as Microsoft last described them: secure identity and access, secure networking, secure compute, storage and databases, and secure Azure using Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel. You will configure Microsoft Entra ID protections, Privileged Identity Management, network security groups, Azure Firewall and private endpoints, encryption with Key Vault, and detection and response with Defender for Cloud and Sentinel.
Because the exam you sit is your own decision, we show you how to read the current Microsoft certification pages. Delivery is live, instructor-led and online.

Q.Is AZ-500 still available?
No. Microsoft's certification page states that the Azure Security Engineer Associate certification, exam and renewal assessments retired on 31 August 2026.
Q.What should I take instead?
Microsoft sources name SC-500 (Cloud and AI Security Engineer Associate) as the replacement. Check Microsoft Learn for its current requirements before booking.
Q.Will this course still be useful?
Yes. Entra ID protection, network security, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud and Sentinel are core skills for Azure security jobs.
Q.If I already hold AZ-500, what happens?
Microsoft says retirement does not invalidate certifications already earned, but it can no longer be renewed. Check your Microsoft Learn transcript.
Q.Do I need to know KQL?
No, we teach the basics needed for Sentinel queries.
Q.Are free Azure trial credits enough?
Many labs fit in trial credits or small costs, but Defender and Sentinel have costs after trial limits. We explain which to enable and disable.
