About the course
What this course covers
Microsoft Azure Developer (AZ-204) was long the standard exam for developers building on Azure. Microsoft has now retired the AZ-204 exam and the Azure Developer Associate certification (the retirement date listed by Microsoft sources is 31 July 2026), and its current developer-focused exam is AI-200, which leads to the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate certification. Existing Azure Developer Associate credentials that were already earned remain valid until they expire.
This course teaches the practical Azure development skills that AZ-204 measured and that AI-200 builds on: developing compute solutions with App Service, Functions and containers; working with Cosmos DB and Blob Storage; implementing authentication and secrets management; connecting applications through Service Bus, Event Grid and Event Hubs; and monitoring and troubleshooting with Application Insights. A final module covers the AI-200 outline, which Microsoft describes as focused on containerised solutions, data management for AI solutions, connecting to Azure services, and securing, monitoring and troubleshooting solutions.
The course prepares you for the exam you choose; you book it yourself with Microsoft through Pearson VUE. Delivery is live, instructor-led and online.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Can I still take the AZ-204 exam?
Microsoft has retired AZ-204 and the Azure Developer Associate certification, with the retirement date listed in Microsoft updates as 31 July 2026. Please confirm on Microsoft Learn, and plan for the current exam instead.
Q.What replaces AZ-204?
Microsoft lists AI-200, Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate, as the current Azure developer-focused exam. It emphasises containerised solutions, data management for AI solutions, service integration and security/monitoring.
Q.Is the training still useful if the exam changed?
Yes. The underlying skills (App Service, Functions, containers, Cosmos DB, Service Bus, Entra ID, Key Vault, monitoring) are the foundation of both exams and of real jobs.
Q.Which languages are used in labs?
Mainly C# and Python. The services and concepts are the same in other languages.
Q.Will my old AZ-204 certificate still be valid?
Microsoft states that retirement does not invalidate certifications already earned, but renewal of the retired certification is no longer offered. Check your Microsoft Learn profile for details.
Q.Is AI experience required?
No. The AI-200 bridge module introduces the AI-related data and back-end concepts without assuming prior AI knowledge.
Q.Do you guarantee a job?
No. The course builds skills and a portfolio project; hiring depends on employers.
