About the course
What this course covers
Cloud bills surprise many organisations because spending is easy to create and hard to trace. AWS Cloud Financial Management teaches the practices and AWS tools that make costs visible, owned and efficient. It is aimed at the engineers who create costs as well as the finance and management staff who must explain them.
You learn how AWS charges for compute, storage, data transfer and managed services; how to tag resources and allocate costs to teams; how to read Cost Explorer and the Cost and Usage Report; how to set budgets and anomaly alerts; and how to reduce spend with right-sizing, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Spot capacity, storage lifecycle policies and architectural changes. We also introduce FinOps as an operating model.
There is no exam attached to this course. It supports the Billing, Pricing and Support domain of AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, and the cost-optimisation domain of the Solutions Architect Associate exam, which are booked separately with AWS. Delivery is live and instructor-led online.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Is there an official AWS certification for this course?
No. This is a skills course with an Assure Success completion certificate. Cost topics also appear in AWS Cloud Practitioner and Solutions Architect exams.
Q.I work in finance. Will it be too technical?
The finance-focused modules are accessible, and we explain AWS terms as needed. A basic idea of servers and storage helps.
Q.Will we analyse a real bill?
We use sample billing data and, if you have your own account, Cost Explorer on your data. Please do not share sensitive company data in class.
Q.Does it cover Azure or Google Cloud costs?
The tooling is AWS-specific, but FinOps principles apply to any cloud.
Q.Can savings be guaranteed?
No. Savings depend on your workloads. The course gives methods to find and act on opportunities.
Q.Which tools do I need?
A browser and, ideally, access to an AWS account for the Budgets and Cost Explorer exercises.
