About the course
What this course covers
The Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) is for Scrum Masters who already know the mechanics of Scrum and now want to deal with harder problems: teams that will not self-manage, conflict among members, stakeholders who undermine the sprint, and impediments rooted in the wider organisation.
The course builds on the CSM and goes deeper into the Scrum Master stances of facilitator, teacher, coach, mentor and change agent. You practise coaching conversations, advanced facilitation formats, conflict resolution and systems thinking, using scenarios brought by participants, not only trainer case studies.
A-CSM has no exam. Scrum Alliance asks for a foundational certification (a CSM, or an accepted PSM I or II), at least 12 months of Scrum Master work experience in the past five years, and completion of an approved course of at least 16 hours.

FAQs
Questions learners ask us
Q.Is there an exam for A-CSM?
No. Scrum Alliance certifies A-CSM through the course, a foundational credential and validated Scrum Master experience.
Q.Can I take A-CSM with a PSM I instead of a CSM?
Scrum Alliance has stated that a PSM I or PSM II from Scrum.org can be used in place of the CSM prerequisite. Check the current rule on their site before enrolling.
Q.Do I need 12 months of experience before the course?
No. You can take the course first, but your trainer cannot certify you until the 12 months are recorded and validated.
Q.What if I am only a part-time Scrum Master?
Scrum Alliance asks for work experience specific to the Scrum Master accountability. Part-time experience can count if it is genuinely that role; confirm with your educator.
Q.How is A-CSM different from CSM?
CSM teaches the framework and basic facilitation. A-CSM focuses on coaching, conflict, systems and organisational change.
Q.What does A-CSM renewal involve?
Every two years, with 30 SEUs and a renewal fee (US$175 as published by third-party guides); confirm the current figure on the Scrum Alliance site.
